Chelsea made it into the England Cup quarter-final edging past Saturday’s second division side Hull, 2–1, while Tottenham will have to play again after a 1–1 draw with Southampton.

West Ham, meanwhile, were eliminated at home (1-0) by Second Division team West Bromwich Albion.

The Chelsea Blues, who have target success in the cup, lined up a few of their regular starters against a Championship mid-table team, such as Hull.

In the 6th minute, Belgian Michy Batshuayi opened the scoring for Chelsea, his shot being deflected by one of the three defenders who charged down his shot, displacing goalkeeper George Long.

Chelsea increased the lead in the 64th minute, thanks to a header from Fikayo Tomori, following a free kick from Ross Barkley.

Polish international Kamil Grosicki gave Hull hope in the 78th minute, with a free kick deflected down the barrier.

Tottenham, meanwhile, thought they had the job done by getting ahead of the game thanks to Korean Son Heung-min, but again their weak defense cancelled out his hard work.

Three minutes from the end, the former Angers and Lille player Sofiane Boufal tied and forced the tiebreaker.

West Ham, facing difficulties in the Premier League (17th), experienced another upset falling at home to West Brom, who scored the only goal of the match in the 9th minute via Conor Townsend.

Another Premier League club that must replay their match is Newcastle, unable to win at home (0-0) to a third-tier team, Oxford United.

Dull but effective, Leicester, third-ranked in the Premier League, did advance to the fifth round, after winning 1-0 to second division outfit Brentford.

The only goal of the match came in the opening moments, in the 4th minute, when Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho put the ball past the goalkeeper, James Justin.

The two Manchester clubs eased past their opponents on Sunday, but Manchester United made the headiness with a six goal thriller over Tranmere Rovers. However the champions of Europe, Liverpool fielded a young, energetic team, which resulted in them needing to replay the match against a determined Shrewsbury team.
